Bold and long-lasting
Blackwork uses solid black ink in large areas: silhouettes, bold patterns, bands and graphic shapes. Heavy black holds up well over the years and reads clearly on every skin tone, which makes it a common choice for covering older tattoos.
Large solid areas take longer to heal than outlines and can look darker and glossier for the first weeks. Solid bands around an arm or leg are a big commitment: they are hard to change later.
Previewing it honestly
In the editor, keep Ink on Black and raise Opacity to see the depth of a healed piece. Try the design on the sample with the deepest skin tone too: blackwork is one of the styles that shows clearly on it.
