Precision on a curved surface
Geometric tattoos are built from circles, straight lines, symmetry and repetition: mandalas, sacred geometry, honeycombs, dotwork spheres. They look best when the symmetry reads true, which is the challenge on a body that is curved and moves.
Flatter, firmer areas keep geometry honest: the upper back, the shoulder blade, the outer thigh, the chest. On the forearm and calf, patterns are usually designed to wrap around the limb.
Previewing it honestly
Use Wrap on limbs and check the pattern from the side as well as the front. Free warp helps a mandala sit over the curve of a shoulder without looking pasted on. Dotwork reads softer than solid lines, so give it a little more size.
