Tattoo Placement Simulator

Where should it go? Try the same design on your forearm, wrist, shoulder or back and see which one works. Designs start in Wrap mode, so they curve around limbs from the start.

Placement changes everything about a tattoo: how it moves, how big it needs to be, and how often you will see it. This placement simulator lets you put the same design on different photos and judge the fit on your own body.

How to compare placements

  1. Start with one spot. Upload a photo, or try the forearm, arm, shoulder and back samples.
  2. Add your design. It starts in Wrap, curving around the limb. Switch to Flat for the back or chest.
  3. Fit it. Size and rotate it, raise Wrap strength for slim limbs, or bend it over joints with Free warp.
  4. Save, then try the next spot. Download the preview, press New photo and repeat.

Placement tips

  • Follow the body's lines. Long designs sit best along the forearm, shin or spine; round designs suit the shoulder, calf or upper back.
  • Think about movement. Photograph the spot in a relaxed pose and a natural bend to see how the design stretches.
  • Leave room. A design that fills a placement edge to edge looks cramped. Try it a little smaller.

Common problems

  • Text reads backwards. Mirror selfies flip the image. Use Flip in Adjust.
  • The edges look too squeezed. Lower Wrap strength, or switch Wrap around to the other direction.
  • The grid is hard to grab on a phone. Zoom in with two fingers on the photo first, then drag the points.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use the tattoo placement simulator?

Upload a photo of one placement you are considering, add the design and fit it with Wrap or Free warp. Download that preview, then press New photo, upload the next placement and repeat. Comparing the saved previews side by side makes the choice much easier than imagining it.

What is the best placement for a first tattoo?

Many people start on the outer forearm, upper arm or shoulder, where the skin is firm and the tattoo is easy to cover or show. This simulator cannot tell you how much a spot will hurt, but it shows how the design reads there, which is the part you will live with.

How do I make a tattoo wrap around my arm?

Select the design and choose Wrap under Warp in the Adjust tab. Raise Wrap strength until the edges curve away like your arm does, and pick Lying across if the tattoo runs around the arm rather than along it. For elbows, knees and muscles, Free warp gives you a grid of points to drag.

Can I see how a tattoo looks on my back or shoulder?

Yes. Ask someone to take the photo, or use a mirror and flip the design with Flip if the writing comes out reversed. On large flat areas such as the upper back, Flat usually looks right; on the shoulder cap, add a little Wrap or bend the edges with Free warp.

Does placement change how big the tattoo should be?

It does: the same design can look tiny on the back and oversized on the wrist. Use the Size slider at each placement and keep fine detail large enough to stay clear. To try lettering at different sizes, the tattoo try on page has the same editor and text tools.

Are my placement photos uploaded?

No. Every photo stays in your browser: nothing is uploaded to a server, stored or shared, and starting a new photo discards the last one. You can verify it in your browser's developer tools, where the Network tab shows no image being sent. It works offline once the page has loaded.
