A virtual tattoo try-on shows the design on your real skin, at the real size, in the light of your own photo. It is the quickest way to rule out a placement, settle on a size, or show your artist exactly what you mean.

How to try on a tattoo

  1. Photograph the spot in good light, straight on, or upload a photo you already have.
  2. Choose a design from the library, upload your own, or type lettering.
  3. Move, size and rotate it with your finger or mouse.
  4. Bend it to your body with Wrap or Free warp, and Erase where hair or clothing should cover it.
  5. Compare with the eye button or the Before / after divider, then Download.

Getting a useful preview

  • Use the same pose you will be in most of the time: a relaxed arm, not a flexed one.
  • For two candidates, add both, then hide one at a time in Layers.
  • Send the downloaded preview to your artist with the design. It answers most placement questions before the consultation.

Common problems

  • The photo is sideways. Phone photos carry their orientation in the file and the editor applies it. If one still comes out sideways, take a screenshot of it and upload that.
  • The tattoo looks too dark. Lower Opacity, or pick Color under Ink and choose a gray-blue for a healed look.
  • It won't let me add another design. One photo holds up to five. Delete one in Layers to add another.

Frequently asked questions

How do I try on a tattoo virtually?

Take a photo of the spot, upload it here and pick a design. Drag it into place, resize it with the corner handle, and turn on Wrap for arms and legs so it curves with your body. Hold the eye button to flick back to your bare skin and compare, then download the preview.

Can I try on a tattoo my artist drew for me?

Yes. Ask your artist for the drawing, or photograph it on paper, then choose Upload your own design. The white paper is removed so only the ink is left. If shading or paper grain comes through, switch on Line art only in Adjust to keep just the strokes.

How do I know what size the tattoo should be?

Place the design and move the Size slider while you look at nearby landmarks such as your wrist bone or elbow crease. Save two or three versions at different sizes and compare them. Fine-line work usually needs more room than you expect for the detail to stay readable.

Can I try on name or date tattoos?

Yes. In the Designs tab, type the name, date or quote under Text tattoo and pick one of eight lettering styles: script, copperplate, signature, blackletter, gothic, typewriter, mono or fine line. Text layers stay editable, so you can fix a typo or change the font after placing it.

Can I see what my tattoo will look like when it is older?

Raise Fade in the Adjust tab. It lowers the contrast, softens the lines and shifts black ink slightly toward blue-gray, the way tattoos age. To preview getting rid of one instead, the tattoo removal simulator shows the fading over laser sessions.

Are my photos uploaded when I try on a tattoo?

No. The try-on runs entirely in your browser: your photo and design never leave your device and are never sent to a server. You can confirm it in your browser's developer tools, where the Network tab shows no upload, and the editor keeps working offline once loaded.
